Enerpeel Skin Peels in Cheltenham
Skin Peels
Chemical peels are designed to erase or reduce damage such as pigmentation or fine wrinkles that are often caused by too much sun. The peels performed at Cygnini vary in depth from mild to deep. The aim is always to achieve clearer, more even-toned, healthier skin. Generally speaking we recommend 3-4 sessions, each one 2-3 weeks apart, once every year to maintain and optimise results.
Which skin peels do Cygnini Clinic use?
At Cygnini we use Blue Peel Radiance by Obagi and Enerpeel by SkinMed.

There are two things we particularly LOVE about Enerpeel:
- The precise formula used can be adjusted to meet every patient’s individual needs, for example different parts of the face may benefit from different peels, so we will tailor your peel to you. We don’t offer glycolic peels for this reason, because we believe that no single peel suits everybody, and no single peel may necessarily meet the needs of an individual – with Enerpeel we can create a bespoke peel just for you.
- All Enerpeels are comprised of a ‘carrier’ solution which means that the active ingredients are carried deep into the skin before they start being working, whereas some peels start working as soon as they hit the surface of the skin causing superficial impacts, rather than deeper benefits.
As Cygnini is a medically focused clinic, we offer deep peels with Rob Warr, our consultant cosmetic surgeon. These are largely based on tricloracetic acid (TCA) and 25% and 40% in strength.
We also offer a wide range of highly effective, medium depth peels administered by our therapists.
Enerpeel Medical-grade peels – TCA
Enerpeel® TCA LP 25% & TCA Strong 40% – For anti-ageing, sun damage, moderate to severe photo-ageing and chrono-ageing, severe hyper-pigmentation, severe scars and raised scar reduction. The TCA Strong offers deeper remodelling and can also be used for pre and post surgical use.
GREAT FOR… older skin with greater damage/signs of ageing or clients with moderate to severe concerns
Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) can be used in many concentrations, but it is most commonly used for medium to deep peeling. Fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes and pigment problems are commonly treated with TCA. A course of 4 treatments is what we recommend for optimum results.
Enerpeel Therapeutic-grade Medium-depth peels
Enerpeel® Salicylic Acid – Designed to break down oil and surface debris in acneic skins, while also introducing the three key ingredients to control inflammation, kill bacteria, reduce oil production and normalise excess skin cell production.
GREAT FOR… spot prone faces and acne
Enerpeel® SA Chest & Back – This area can be hard to treat, but with this new specialised Enerpeel you can really target your chest and back acne.
GREAT FOR… problem areas of the body where oil can congest
Enerpeel® Mandelic Acid – Designed for the management of rosacea, thread veins, hyperpigmentation, hyper sensitive skin, hyper reactive skin, broken capillaries and is ideal for peeling throughout the summer months and for those with sensitive skin.
GREAT FOR… anybody, anytime! Affectionately known as the ‘lunchtime’ peel as this has the least ‘downtime’ of all peels.
Enerpeel® Pyruvic Acid – Controls oily skin, reduces pore size and can be used for anti-ageing, photo ageing, flabby skin and mild actinic keratosis. This EnerPeel can also be used on the chest and neck.
GREAT FOR… fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and oil control
Enerpeel® Jessner’s – Lactic acid component for reducing non-inflammatory pigmentation, oil control, moderate actinic keratosis, moderate to severe photo-aging and chromo-ageing .
GREAT FOR… those wanting to look overall ‘younger, fresher and brighter’.
Enerpeel® EL – Specifically designed for treating in and around the eye socket and the lip margin; the two age defining areas of the face. A treatment for hyper-pigmentation, actinic keratosis, chrono-aging and photo-ageing on the periocular and labial areas.
GREAT FOR… those wanting to target and refresh in and around the eye socket and the lip margin; two of the most age-defining areas of the face.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: A chemical peel will not prevent or slow the ageing process.
What’s involved in a peel?
After cleansing the skin to remove any surface oils, the skin peel will be carefully applied all over your face, or just the affected areas. We will cool your skin with a cool fan. In a short while you will experience a warm sensation. The depth of the peel will determine how uncomfortable this is. This lasts for a few minutes after which this will be cleaned and neutralised.
Following your chemical skin peel treatment you will be given advice to optimise the benefits of the procedure and reduce the risk of complications and at this point you will be able to go home. The time taken to start peeling and the to complete its process will depend upon the depth of the peel. It can be anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks.
Risks?
We will counsel you very carefully and responsibly before you undergo your treatment. Very rarely, you may experience some swelling, especially around the eyes for the first two days, but this will subside quickly. Side effects can be hyper pigmentation and a high factor sunscreen should be applied to help reduce this potential problem.
