Microdermabrasion in Cheltenham

Microdermabrasion is a painless, chemical free treatment that uses a vacuum system & micro-crystals to remove dead skin cells. It is a skin resurfacing and regeneration treatment that is more effective than any other exfoliation procedure on the market. It has predictable results for all ages and skin types. By remove the top ‘dead’ layer, it reveals soft, new living skin cells that become more receptive to topically applied nutrients post-treatment. In doing so it also smooths the skin surface & stimulates the production of plump, healthy skin cells in the underlying dermis.

What to expect of the treatment

Your appointment with the therapist will last no more than 30 minutes including consultation, preparation, treatment and aftercare advice.  The clinical treatment itself takes just a few minutes to perform due to the medical strength quality of the system, but your skin will be thoroughly cleansed beforehand and moisturiser and SPF will be applied afterwards.

 

What to expect after treatment

After the first 24 hours, you can expect some redness which will gradually fade over the next few hours post-treatment. Make-up can be worn the following day. High quality sunscreen is recommended – daily. Many people notice improvements in texture and appearance of their skin immediately after first treatment. With more problematic areas, a number of treatments are needed to see improvement.

Risks?

There are no known major risks with microdermabrasion. If you have active eczema we will not treat on or near the affected area. If you are taking, or have taken within the preceding 6 months, oral Retin-A/Roaccutane/isotretinoins we will not treat you as your skin will be especially sensitive. If you are prone to cold sores we will avoid that area or prescribe anti viral medications to take beforehand.  You must not have any laser therapy (whether for hair removal or thread veins) on the area treated for at least 48 hours following a microdermabrasion.
